The Start of the Suzuka Endurance Race Series
SUZUKA CIRCUIT launched the "Suzuka Endurance Series," consisting of the Suzuka 500km and Suzuka 1000km races, to respond to the development of the highway network and the resulting advancement in automobile performance. This led to rapid growth among domestic automobile manufacturers, tire suppliers, and peripheral equipment providers. Along with the birth of SUZUKA CIRCUIT, the number of amateur drivers increased, all eagerly participating in endurance races with the goal of becoming top drivers.

The Suzuka Endurance Race Series was organized with the Suzuka 500Km in March, Suzuka 12 Hours in July, and Suzuka 1000Km. In the final round, the Suzuka 1000Km, Toyota and Nissan teams aiming for consecutive victories fell back due to troubles, and Taki Racing’s Porsche Carrera 906 took the win. The Bridgestone racing tires equipped on the 906 completed the 1000 kilometers without a single change.
